The system was not built for families like yours.

If you are a parent of a child with special educational needs, you already know how hard this is. The waits are long, the language is complex, the letters go unanswered and the professionals who should be helping you often have no idea what you have already been through. Lumio Pathways exists to change that.

2+ yrs

Average wait for autism assessment

Families wait over two years on average for a community paediatric assessment. Many wait far longer with no support in the interim.

70%

EHCP requests refused first time

Most first-time EHCP requests are refused. Families who know their rights and use the right language are significantly more likely to succeed.

4.8 yrs

Average age at first autism diagnosis

Many children wait until school age or beyond for a diagnosis. Early identification changes outcomes. Every month matters.

1 in 5

Children have special educational needs

Approximately one in five children in England has some form of special educational need. Most families navigate the process entirely alone.

How Lumio Pathways works

A clinically validated assessment from concern to action in four steps. Takes under 15 minutes. No appointment. No referral. No waiting room.

Complete the assessment

Answer 12 clinically validated questions about your child at home, in your own time, in your own language.

Receive your child’s profile

A full strengths and needs profile across five developmental domains. Clear, readable and yours to keep.

Letters generated instantly

A GP referral letter and an EHCP assessment request letter generated from your child’s profile and ready to send the same day.

We stay with you

The journey does not end at the letter. Lumio Pathways guides you through every stage that follows.

The letter is the beginning,
not the end.

Too many platforms stop at the letter. Lumio Pathways does not. Getting a referral letter or an EHCP request is one step in a journey that can last years. We built every part of that journey into the platform, because families need more than a document. They need a companion.

From the moment you complete the assessment to the day your child’s provision is in place and working, Lumio Pathways is with you. We help you understand what to expect, what to say when the system pushes back and how to make sure your child gets what they are entitled to.

Early identification

Spot it before the system does

Our clinically validated 12-question assessment identifies strengths and support needs across five developmental domains. Parent-led, home-based and clinically robust. Age-appropriate from 18 months to 12 years.

Draft and send

The right words, ready to go

GP referral letters and EHCP assessment requests generated automatically from your child’s profile. Clinically informed language. Statutory references accurate. Professional enough to be taken seriously from the first read.

Advocate

Know what to say when they say no

When the GP hedges, when the local authority refuses, when the school says they are not seeing what you see at home, Lumio Pathways gives you the knowledge, the language and the confidence to push back effectively and within your rights.

EHCP gap analysis

What your child’s EHCP should say but does not

Intelligent analysis of your child’s EHCP identifies gaps between the needs identified in Section B and the provision set out in Sections E and F. Know exactly what to challenge and how to challenge it before the annual review.

Coordination

School, home and therapy, finally talking to each other

Shared weekly clinical targets across home, school and speech and language therapy. One platform, one picture of your child, everyone aligned. No more information lost between settings. No more starting from scratch at every meeting.

Mock and prepare

Walk into every meeting knowing what to expect

Annual review preparation. EHCP meeting guidance. Appeal process support. Lumio Pathways helps you prepare for every formal meeting and understand every document before you sign it.

Everything in one place. Nothing left out.

Stage 1 launches with the core identification and navigation tools. Stage 2 brings EHCP gap analysis and full coordination. Stage 3 opens to schools, clinicians and NHS commissioners.

Stage 1

Clinically validated assessment

12 questions across five developmental domains. Developed under the oversight of a clinical governance board including consultant neurodevelopmental paediatricians and a registered speech and language therapist. Age-appropriate from 18 months to 12 years.

Stage 1

Full strengths and needs profile

Your child’s strengths and needs across communication, social interaction, sensory processing, learning and emotional regulation. Colour-coded domain scores. Downloadable PDF. Ready to share with any professional.

Stage 1

GP referral letter

Clinically informed GP referral letter auto-generated from your child’s profile. Professional language that GPs take seriously. Based on assessed need, not on parental description alone.

Stage 1

EHCP assessment request letter

Statutory EHCP assessment request under Section 36 of the Children and Families Act 2014. Accurate statutory references. Clear, professional and ready to submit the same day you complete the assessment.

Stage 2

EHCP provision gap analysis

Intelligent analysis of your child’s EHCP identifies gaps between identified needs and stated provision across Sections B, E and F. Know exactly what to challenge before the annual review.

Stage 2

Home, school and therapy coordination

Shared weekly clinical targets across home, school and speech and language therapy. One platform, one picture, everyone aligned around your child. Progress tracked across all settings.

Stage 2

Community and peer support

A moderated community of SEND families navigating the same journey. Share experiences, ask questions and find support from families who understand. Professionally moderated to maintain safety and quality.

A community built around the families who need it most.

Families supporting families

A moderated peer community where SEND parents share experiences, ask questions and find support from people who have been exactly where they are now. No judgement. No jargon. Just people who understand.

Faith and cultural inclusion

Lumio Pathways is built to serve communities for whom language, faith and cultural context shape how they experience the SEND system. Our content and community reflect the families we serve, not a one-size-fits-all approach.

Available in four languages

English, Urdu, Punjabi and Polish. Because the families who wait the longest for support are often the ones for whom language is the biggest barrier to accessing it.

Professionally moderated

Our community is professionally moderated to ensure safety, accuracy and a space where families feel genuinely supported rather than overwhelmed by misinformation.

School said my child was a pleasure to have in class. Every evening at home told a completely different story. I had no words for what I was seeing. I had no idea where to start. And I had no one around me who had been through this before. That is the gap Lumio Pathways fills.

Parent, Greater Manchester

If any of this sounds like you, this platform was built for you.

You noticed something first.

You have been observing something in your child’s development that concerns you, but you do not know where to start or what words to use to describe it.

You have been told to wait and see.

Your GP, your health visitor or your child’s school has told you to wait and see. Your instincts are telling you something different.

The system dismissed you.

You have tried to get help and been turned away, referred elsewhere or told there is nothing to be concerned about. You know that is not true.

You have a diagnosis but no provision.

Your child has a diagnosis but the EHCP process has stalled, the provision is inadequate or the school is not implementing what the plan says.

English is not your first language.

You are navigating a complex statutory system in a language that is not your own, without a professional to translate not just the words but the process.

You are exhausted.

You have been fighting for years. You are tired. You need a platform that does the heavy lifting so you can focus on your child.

Built with clinicians. Validated with care. Used with confidence.

Clinical governance board

The Lumio Pathways assessment instrument was developed under the oversight of a registered clinical governance board including consultant neurodevelopmental paediatricians and a registered speech and language therapist. Every question, every scoring model and every letter template has been validated by qualified clinicians.

NICE-aligned content

Our questionnaire content is developed in alignment with NICE guidelines NG142 covering autism in children under 5 years and NG207 covering autism in children and young people, alongside RCSLT clinical frameworks for speech and language.

What Lumio Pathways is not

Lumio Pathways is not a diagnostic tool and does not provide clinical diagnoses. It is a clinically informed identification and navigation platform designed to help families access professional assessment sooner and navigate the statutory process more effectively.

Data protection

Lumio Pathways is ICO registered and built in full compliance with UK GDPR and the UK Children’s Code. Your family’s data belongs to you. We will never share it with third parties for commercial purposes.

Lumio Pathways is a parent-administered identification and navigation tool. It is not a substitute for clinical assessment by a qualified healthcare professional. If you have concerns about your child’s development, please also speak to your GP or health visitor.

A haven of light for the journey.

Built in Manchester. Built for every family the system forgets.

Lumio Pathways Ltd is a Manchester-based health technology company incorporated in June 2026. We exist because the families who need support the most are often the ones waiting the longest to receive it.

Our platform is clinically validated, parent-led and built around the real experience of navigating a SEND system that was not designed with diverse, multilingual, under-resourced families in mind. We are building something different.

We are currently in active development and building towards our Stage 1 launch. Every family who joins the waitlist helps shape what we build next.
